How Not to Make It

Steal constantly, and never give it back,
Not a thing worthwhile, and not completely.
Peripheral living, you’ve got the knack
To observe it all silently, discretely.

Eyes open, strain to not see what’s happening,
Don’t speak of the real (what’s that) instead,
Of paranoia, nervous shoulder- glancing.
Don’t find a way to show things left unsaid.

Now, another hint, because it’s the truth—
Sanity is a sacrifice for life.
Discord and dark, stuck in a vinyl booth,
Dispel the comfort, embrace the strife.

Stay awake until you figure it out.
The end of living is not death, but doubt.
