Day Twenty-Six

Once upon a time, approximateIy one month ago, I was having a spirited discussion with my boyfriend about how many band T-shirts I actually own. He told me that I had so many, I could wear a different one every day for a year. I disagreed, so we decided to finally figure it out, once and for all. Highly scientific calculations ensued, and it was determined that there are around 180. Only half a year’s worth (see, that’s not a crazy amount…right?). Somehow, this all led to the idea of me wearing a different T-shirt every day for a month (or 30 days).

This is a blurry picture again. Darn it. You can still sort of make out the band name: Split Lip Rayfield. This trio from Wichita, Kansas has had some hard times recently. In 2007, the band lost original member Kirk Rundstrom to esophageal cancer. They chose not to replace him, instead continuing on as a three-piece. They still totally rock and the live show is absolutely amazing. Bass player Jeff Eaton, plays a homemade one-string bass built from the gastank of a 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis and strung with one piece of Weedwhacker line, nicknamed “Stitchgiver”. Seriously! Go support this band next time they are in town. They deserve it.
