Day Twenty-Three

Once upon a time, approximateIy one month ago, I was having a spirited discussion with my boyfriend about how many band T-shirts I actually own. He told me that I had so many, I could wear a different one every day for a year. I disagreed, so we decided to finally figure it out, once and for all. Highly scientific calculations ensued, and it was determined that there are around 180. Only half a year’s worth (see, that’s not a crazy amount…right?). Somehow, this all led to the idea of me wearing a different T-shirt every day for a month (or 30 days).

This is a hilarious picture. I have no idea why I look so happy. It was taken in the fabulous Angora Holly Polo’s office by Ms. Holly Polo herself in front of her brand-spankin’ new map of the United States. Weirdly, this was when I was working for a band called These United States. In any case, it’s a Sebadoh T-shirt. It has some tiny text on it right above the girl’s (boy’s?) head. It says, “we play cards and travel much.” I have no idea what that refers to. Maybe one of you does? Sebadoh is an awesome band fronted by Lou Barlow of Dinosaur Jr. Sebadoh’s “Bakesale” is one of my favorite albums of all time. I’m pretty sure that I know all the words to every song on it. I met Lou once and he signed some Beltbuckle 7 inches that I had. He told me that they were really rare. I felt special. It was awesome.

OMG, I have a Belt Buckle 7″ too! (You must have been like 10 years old when that came out!) But Lou never signed them, nor did he make me feel special. I was just singing “Social Medicine” to myself while washing the dishes like ten minutes ago. Also, earlier today I considered the lyrics to “Magnet’s Coil” to be my personal anthem.
