35 years ago on this day in 1977, a rough and tumble little sci-fi flick made its debut – and people all over the world were suddenly allowed a semblance of pride for being a total dweebus.

Thank you, George Lucas – people may give you a hard time for fucking up the trilogy with unnecessarily refurbished rereleases and shitty prequels, but there’s no judgment here, Georgie – you’re among friends. This is a comfortable place where you can be appreciated for your overall contributions to society – anyone that can come up with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Indiana Jones is squaresies with us.
