Denver’s Most Fuckable Activist

If Sara Miller were a song, she’d be Bikini Kill’s “I Like Fucking.” At least, I think she would, because that song ends up stuck in my head every time I run into her.

At 23, Sara is at the forefront of feminist activism in Denver, doing relief work for a domestic violence safehouse, teaching medical and nursing students how to correctly and comfortably administer gynecological exams, and spreading the gospel of sex-positive feminism wherever she can. She’s also taught sex workshops at Hysteria, been in several performances of The Vagina Monologues, and organized Take Back the Night events. Despite the busy schedule, she still finds time to play drums with the always badass, Riot grrrl-esque band, Creepskope (by the way, they’re looking for a new guitarist).

This girl is so full of passion, courage, and white-hot rage, you can’t help but fall a little in love with her right away. Seriously. Her righteous indignation is so contagious, after a few minutes in her presence, she’ll have you raging against rape culture, white privilege, American imperialism, neoliberal capitalism, and all the other fucked-up shit going on in the world. She also gives off the distinct impression that if you mess with her, she could seriously fuck you up…which is, you know, pretty hot.

Sara might be leaving us soon, as she’s recently been accepted to the doctoral program at the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality (Annie Sprinkle wrote her a recommendation…yes, Sara is really that cool), but as long as she’s in town, she’ll retain the esteemed title of Denver’s Most Fuckable Activist.
