Donnybrook is shutting down

Written by  //  October 10, 2013  //  Donnyblurbs  //  14 Comments

I wrote this in the middle of the night. I literally haven’t had time to type it into WordPress, and then I figured, there is something very nice and intimate and fitting for my last Donnybrook blog to be hand-written. Un-searchable on Google. Not really a blog. Just click the images for them to get bigger, then you should be able to read it. Love to you all – Angora Holly Polo

Aw, dang it. Mrs. Polo, let me thank you and the core team for orchestrating this hullabaloo of glimmering talent, awesome people and high-minded silliness. It seemed like a lark at the time, but looking back, you gave us an avenue and inspiration for doing some of our best writing. Thank you, everybody. The Colonel will not forget.

    “Tommy vom’ed.” Classic TTT.
And classic EHS! I remember every moment.
You and your pals have made goodness happen, sis. Congratulations on a great run, and here’s to what’s next.
Still waiting for the next Bastille Day Party …

God, you guys are such a tremendously fantastic and indelible part of those halcyon blogger glory days around 2009 that are the stuff of legend in my mind, and were some of the most vibrant, aristocratic, hilarious, creative, musically-passionate, and hungover days I may ever experience. Picardo is obviously correct that we need to have a farewell send-off party, Bastille or otherwise. I’ll arrive by shopping cart, pushed by Annie.

God, look at my cute little avatar that magically appeared! THAT IS FROM SAID HALCYON GLORY DAYS!

Awwwwww – I love you, this makes me sad, but I get it. And I love you.

Awwwwwwww I’m so so very sad about this! What a beautiful way to end, though. Those years with Donnybrook will honestly go down as some of the greatest of my life, I think I can already say that. Donnybrook Forever!!!!!

Man, sad day. Donnybrook will be missed. It was one of those rare sites that made our little scene special.
And Joe Grobelny (former member of EAOD and Le Divorce) still talks about that Bastille Day show. Any time Le D had a ridiculous, drunken, utter-mess of a show he would say “It was a Bastille Day”

    Never forget.

Without you, I would never have seen “Chuggo Gets Slapped,” and my life would be smaller for that. TTFN.

BTW, Bravado, It’s good to see you live and breathe. Drop me a line sometime.
