Feather Frenzy

Unless you’ve literally been sleeping, you know that the new “it” item is everything feathers.
And I, for one can say I’m truly addicted.
Jewelry, hair extensions, and clothing designs have all taken flight on the feathers craze.
As has my closet that’s starting to look more like a peacock than a wardrobe.
Thanks to a few note-worthy celebrities like Steven Tyler, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Love Hewitt, who’ve helped showcase their love for the feather movement. They’ve worn feather hair extensions or earrings in the press and it’s helped make them an instant hit.
It’s no longer a one-gender fad either, Steven Tyler being proof of that. It’s rock-star worthy. I’ve definitely seen dudes rocking feather locks in their glorious mane as proof.
I guess I should mention it’s first real appearance in the limelight was with the electro-pop superstar Ke$ha in 2010 when people started to take notice. Her grunge, trash-rock, glam style usually consisted of feathers somewhere on her body. At first it was more “out there” but those feathers are making an appearance at more than just Halloween nowadays.
Since it’s growing popularity, these feathers have sparked stores everywhere to jump on board and carry these items.
Now you can find these fashionable feathers just about anywhere from Target to Walmart, to local boutiques, thanks to the strong demand of the trend.
So, is it bad that I squeal when I see a cute feather headband at the grocery store when I went there to buy milk and cookies?
I’m now able to get my fix of feathers at places I would have never imagined thanks to all the stylists who’ve helped this happen.
I can call myself the proud owner of 7 different feather earrings, 2 feather beaded necklaces, 3 feather headbands, 2 feather hair clips, 1 feather ring and 4 different shirts with feather prints on them.
Too much of an addiction?
Did I mention that my feather hair extensions are on backorder?
If you’re looking for hair items like the extensions, you might have to stick to a salon near you, or visit the numerous online stores that are now carrying them. But, get ‘em fast because they are selling out quick.
If you feel lonely with just yourself sporting the feathers, no worries.
You can now even get feather hair extensions for your dog as well. You and your pooch can rock the feather locks together.
Now, I haven’t pushed it that far and made my pup wear them, too me that’s about it, borderline to crossing the line on that direction.
I do know that I have a problem, and it’s serious. I just may have to enlist myself into feathers anonymous or FFA (Frequent Feather Addiction).
I’d say I have enough feather items to keep me looking fly and soaring forward into the fashion world for decades to come.
Let’s just hope they stick around for more than a season in this ever-changing fashion world.

Even the tiniest Peregrine is sporting feathers in her locks this summer. Every body is doing it. PS – Welcome aboard, Kellious! May your posts be as plentiful as the number of shoes in your closet.
Ordering feather hair extensions for my Little Fauntleroy this very second! The feather’s may be bigger than my chihuahua, but who cares in the name of fashion?
