Hipster Villanelle

I shook off sleep and got myself to the show

Stood in the back and could not hear

Then checked my texts, decided it’s time to go

Thought I saw you but it’s too dark to know

Familiar old friend, this ringing in the ear

I shook off sleep and got myself to the show

You saw them too? I didn’t see you.

Yeah, I guess it’s pretty dark in there

I checked my texts, decided it’s time to go

Who hasn’t been there? but tell me again how

Drunks are so dangerous on a winding stair

I shook off sleep and got myself to the show

Always we got breakfast. There’s what else to do.

Walked outside for a smoke in the night air

Then checked my texts, decided it’s time to go

What’s going on next weekend? I should know

But next week’s too far to think. Now is more near

I shake off sleep and get myself to the show

I check my texts, decide it’s time to go
