Pantoum of the Denver Sound

This is not the new Seattle.

Terribly dreamlike and dark

The string arrangments that rattle

Aching to leave an indelible mark.

Terribly dreamlike and dark

It gets deep inside your ear

Aching to leave an indelible mark.

This mountain-blown, dry, cold air

It gets deep inside your ear

Stinging until you weep.

This mountain-blown, dry, cold air

Into your bones it will creep

Stinging until you weep.

Piano chord that repeats

Into your bones it will creep

Dancing waltz-like beats.

Piano chord that repeats

The string arrangements that rattle

Dancing waltz-like beats.

This is not the new Seattle.

There is not and will never be a “new Seattle” I love Denver. I feel like Denver could blow-up in the music world, if this was ten years ago. Nowadays there will be no next scenes. The major labels don’t have the money to be spending on anything far from a sure bet. So while they might be looking at Denver as a hot bed of talent don’t expect them to be handing out contracts. Nothing is going to be that easy.

I agree with you Bobby, but at the same time, nothing about music is easy so… who gives a shit if “they” won’t be handing out contracts. Does that even happen at all to anyone? The point is to build a community of artists which represent a particular style, if you want to call it that. The Denver sound, is real, and there is a common thread among the bands I’ve heard/like and I freakin’ love it! As a musician and songwriter it raises the bar for me, and challenges me to hear what these other folks are hearing, from their surroundings.

    Rock on kids!

The Denver sound is real. We featured much of what WE consider the Denver sound on the Halloween Snobcast. However, not everyone in this community necessarily has that same sound. What’s great about it is that they don’t all have to have the same sound to fit into what we’re accomplishing here with the musical community.
