Snobcast Recap:2007.5

Written by  //  December 18, 2007  //  The Conservatory  //  5 Comments

Awww, the Best-Of list. Everybody longs to have the definitive outlook, but nobody ever gets it right. So here’s what we will be doing: We will be analyzing the year end lists of some other “reputable” music publications, I’ll sort of edit them accordingly to fit my preferences, and then play those songs on the Snobcast. Then you, the reader, can tell me what you think should stay; what should go; and what should be added or subtracted from the list/playlist. In the end we will have compiled the definitive Best of 2007 list.

This is who has been dismissed from and who has been added to the list:

Additions: Subtractions:
Radiohead Band of Horses
Santogold LCD Soundsystem (anyone else as happy about that as me?)
Yelle The National
Earlimart Vampire Weekend
The Mary Onettes Animal Collective
Patti Griffin Calvin Harris
  Manic Street Preachers
  Sondre Lerche

Best-Of revealed after the jump.

Hey, how ’bout that, three lists in a row with no iPod commercial! Hot dang-git, that Fiest is a darling though.

I like this list. 17 is the perfect number for a Best-Of list. I’m actually late posting this list because I’ve already been playing some Weezy; but Gorilla vs. Bear was the first list I saw repping the Fireman, along with Burial and especially Santogold. I’ve also been enjoying the Menomena. What say you?

16. Menomena – Friend and Foe
15. Glass Candy – Beatbox
14. The Besnard Lakes – …Are The Dark Horse

05. St. Vincent – Marry Me
04. Burial – Untrue
03. Marissa Nadler – Songs III: Bird on the Water
02. White Denim – Let’s Talk About It
01. Panda Bear – Person Pitch

Here’s my list:

Whoa whoa whoa, this is getting out of hand. First you take off Arcade Fire, then this week its Band of Horses, LCD Soundsystem, The National, and Vampire Weekend gone? You hipsters are a fickle bunch- during the year I’ve had no less than 20 conversations where someone has said about each of those bands’ records, “This is like the seminal album for the indie rock sound this year”. Remember when Arcade Fire came to town and all of Denver jizzed all over themselves simultaneously? Remember that? Huh?

Oh and why are the comments all jacked up and small in my computer? Is it beacuse I’m using a mac?

Father Guido implemented a new comments section that act more like a forum: you can reply specifically to certain comments, and subscribe and stuff, and fight with each other. Plus you can purchase the fiery demons from hell plugin for just a little extra.

I can rest peacefully knowing AC is gone.

My comments are all small too. I also have a Mac. And there’s demons coming out of the slot thingy. Is that bad?
