Guest Snobcasters Angora Holly Polo and St. Effluvia geeked out on teenagerhood; Father Guido laid the tracks. Words by Angora.

I don’t know about you, but I was the best kind of teenager ever; that is to say, a horrible little rebellious ingrate. I snuck out of the house, I tried things so hilariously dangerous I’m surprised I’m still here today sometimes. Teenagerhood is the BEST, WORST time to be alive, because it’s a momentary lapse in sanity – which might be the reason that some of the best American teenage culture isn’t created by teenagers (think Miley Cyrus), but by, say, French adults or 30-year-old junkies. Because adults know better than teenagers what’s so cool about teenagerhood.

Also, consider this an impromptu homage to the excellent Illiterate NYC Street Games warehouse party tonight. In honor of their new childhood-themed issue which includes fiction, photography, Mad Libs filled out by Brian Jonestown Massacre and Spoon, interviews with Tokyo Police Club, and my favorite, Denver’s Chicano Vampire novelist Mario Acevedo, they’re throwing a party with kids’ street games like hopscotch, 4-square, double dutch and dice. SRSLY. It’s at Cluster Studios on 3881 N. Steele Unite B, and we’ll all be there.

So there you go, an extension of their childhood theme into adolescence. Here’s something to drink a 40 and then skateboard into a wall to. Or whatever it is you kids do these days.

  1. Like my dad says, adolescence = addled essence. Good show.
