Digital silence is disturbing.

How many ways to be reached? A lot.

It’s so far from reassuring.

What’s supposed to be easy is fraught

with complication too far away

to verify the connection sought

out in the first place. So frustrating,

though expected text is what you got.

Unsatisfying and consuming,

a spoiled appetite for no delay

in reply. Do not resent waiting.

Resist the urge to call. Yes, you ought

to hold on to that understanding

of what is real, and of what is not.
