Life is so torturous. It seems the days of summer drag by, lounging, eating grapes, praying for some form of amusement that might make a person of leisure find titillation. Alas, how shall we pass the time?

As part of the Donnybrook’s outreach program, we’d like to help you find something to do this week-end.

Col. Hector Bravado says: This weekend I’m going to help my friend get on a game show! URL Gray-V, MC extraordinaire of Five Points Plan Recordings, has to assemble a five-minute video featuring himself and his two lifelines for some kind of big-money game show that has to do with remembering the lyrics to stuff.** I will be appearing in the video as Col. Hector Bravado and reppin’ DWA accordingly. Huzzah.

**Editor’s Note: Is it the Singing Bee?! I mean, I know of no such game shows.

Madden Madrid McClintock is earning his Colorado street cred by checking out Gillian Welch at the Folks Fest in Lyons, Friday night. He may or may not also need a ride up there. If you have a car, are going to Lyons this weekend, and you know his secret identity and can get past his security, you should totally hook him up with a ride.

Also for those staying in Denver who like punk and rockablilly, or Jim Yelenick, or those who simply agree with the sentiment “Girlfriend pants=faggotry,” Father Guido recommends you check out Invasion at the Lion’s Lair Friday night, playing with the Foggy Mountain Fuckers. You heard me. The Foggy Mountain Fuckers, who, according to a little bird who’s actually a large bald bartender at the Goosetown Tavern, reunited for this show. Click on the boobs to be taken to Invasion’s Myspace page. Sexy. You can’t resist, can you? You’ll be going to their page whether you like Invasion or not.

Ivyy Goldberg Esq. says: Is anyone going the Fillmore on Friday for the Beastie Boys Gala show?  The Donnybrook Writing Academy would be there, but we are all entirely too busy and popular have so much to do and and oh I can’t keep up this charade anymore.  We at The Donnybrook Writing Academy couldn’t scrape up the dough to go to the gala.  If you go, will you please write in with a review?  We promise not to butcher it too much before publishing it.

But those who are here should go to the Oriental Theater Friday Night for the Divine Intervention burlesque, circus, music and art show. Dress in costume. Any costume.

Quirky songwriter Ian Cooke will be there with local celebrity Magic Cyclops, and there will be short films, circus aerial acts, and a selection of regional and national artists, including one of our favorites Jess Prince.
