Sometimes it’s so hard being an elitist. It’s just difficult to guage who’s the best elitist, who is the elitest elitist; for how do you put a quantitative value on something so abstract as cultural superiority?
The answer, my brainy brothers and sisters, is in who has the most answers. The only way we can measure who is the best is by counting how many items of trivia each person knows about culturally superior things. From there, we can make a graph. A flow chart. Something tangible that says, “I truly am the best.”
It was in these hopes of finding the biggest elitist in Denver that we chose to be celebrity quizmasters at the Geeks Who Drink trivia night at the Irish Snug. This is an open call for all elitists to come out and show us what their mamas gave them, intellectually, of course. Whoever wins our round of trivia questions will take home a beautiful ribbon, proclaiming them to be the Elitest Elitist. Since trivia is played in teams, we’ll probably bestow our prize upon the person in the winning team who’s wearing black-rimmed glasses. If there are multiple people wearing black-rimmed glasses, we’ll choose the better looking one.
Ready, set, trivia! Tonight at 8 p.m. at the Irish Snug.

Shit, I have to cover a show tonight or I’d totally be there with my unnervingly thorough knowledge of trivia AND my glasses/good looks in tow (OK, my glasses are dark blue, but in bar light, you’d think they were black anyway).
well, you KNOW there will be at least FIVE people with black-rimmed glasses there. count and tell me i’m right.

I already won this at the underground contest that happened last week in Highlands Ranch…that’s right Highlands Ranch…it was sooo hard to put underground and Highlands Ranch in the same sentence while omitting kiddie porn ring.
