two boys you don’t yet know: here’s a little ditty about dan and patrick

i’ll keep this short. like an abba song. only not as pretty.

why you should know dan deacon: holy fucking psychotic. you won’t instantly like his music or understand his message. but given time, you will be thankful that you took the four minutes to get to know this strapping young lad from baltimore proper.

next thing you know you’re naked on the floor with rug burn up and down your spine, begging for a glass of ice water and talking uglier than eliza doolittle. the sun still shines on you and your woodpecker; dan deacon may be a freak for electro perversion, but he’s no raincloud.

why you should know patrick wolf: so’s we’re clear, ‘the magic position’ is hardly sexual. it’s enlightened chamber pop, the kind music-school nerds geek out over. you love rufus and kevin barnes and devin davis for good reason. this boy’s smart and savvy and he probably loves those boys too – plus he’s a lot like jay-z with the whole pseudo-retirement talk.

everyone loves a scandal. everyone also loves a bright pop record, or at least they should. and that’s why this boy – with his trigger-happy sampling pedal and a mind for heavy layering and a heart for intense petting – will someday be rewarded for his brilliant compositions, not likely in the form of money but perhaps in the form of glowingly succinct blog essays.
