Wentworth Kersey Week at St. Mark’s Coffeehouse
Written by Angora Holly Polo // May 17, 2009 // Music, Music in Brief, The Conservatory // 2 Comments

Psych-folk experimentalists, sentimental old bastards, self-proclaimed grandpas Wentworth Kersey have embarked upon an exploratory sound project of utmost importance: they’re releasing a trilogy of EPs called ‘O,’ ‘(O),’ and ‘((O)),’ the first of which was so beautiful it made Angora Holly Polo weep.
The second EP, ‘(O),’ can be yours this week – all you have to do is buy a soylattecino at the same cafe you go to every day, hipster: St. Mark’s. Starting today. Just buy a coffee and let the kind folks know you’d like you some Wentworth Kersey on the side.
For a sample, check out this song, which begins mild-manneredly enough and then launches into an epic, fantastical song of Devendra Banhart or even Moody Blues-esque proportions:

This song is choice. Thank you Donnybrook, and thank you Wentworth Kersey.
I know, that song is the COOLEST! Something about the storybook lyrics (spells and wishing wells) makes me want to go on a quest a la Lord of the Rings, is that strange? I don’t want to listen to it on my iPod while I’m running, I want to listen to it on my iPod while I’m saving the world.
